At @shanolabs, we designed a holistic brand and spatial identity that wraps the entire experience in a warm, cinematic atmosphere.
Sushiant’s identity is designed to be strong enough to anchor the space, yet quiet enough to let the food, service, and ritual of dining lead the experience.
The custom logotype is paired with a primary mark: a lucky cat symbol crafted from tangram pieces. This geometric maneki-neko becomes a contemporary emblem of protection and prosperity, echoing the restaurant’s slogan, “Good fortune for bold hearts.” Sharp, modular shapes and soft angles reflect both the precision of Japanese craft and the playful spirit of discovery woven through the dining experience.
A deep, earthy palette of browns and umber is contrasted with soft golden highlights, creating a visual equivalent of lantern light over dark wood. This contrast runs through every touchpoint: illuminated signage, mochi packaging cylinders, chopstick sleeves, coasters, totes, and printed collateral. The identity is intentionally restrained, allowing materials such as textured paper, embossing, and subtle metallic finishes to communicate tactility and depth.
Inside the restaurant, the brand extends into a calm, immersive interior. Curved seating, low lighting, and natural finishes frame large-scale artwork and vertical light features set with Japanese script. The lucky cat tangram mark appears as a quiet guardian throughout the space, reinforcing the idea of good fortune accompanying every visit.
Sushiant’s identity is designed to be both iconic and discreet: strong enough to anchor the space, yet quiet enough to let the food, service, and ritual of dining take center stage. For @shanolabs, this project is an exploration of how a symbolic mark, crafted typography, and spatial details can converge into a cohesive narrative of oriental hospitality – one that invites bold hearts to step in and savour their own moment of good fortune.
