Resens Launches Re[Sens] With a Sustainable and Minimalist Skincare Identity

Re[Sens] is the first Ukrainian sustainable brand of professional cosmetics. It was launched in 2024 to address the challenges of caring for sensitive skin.

More – Is Not Better

The brand’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that an excess of ingredients overwhelms the skin. It’s like a person bombarded by too many stimuli at once—multitasking may be possible, but the result is often fatigue, apathy, and burnout.

We advocate for the «slow beauty» approach: gentle, mindful care that avoids overstimulation. And if there’s anything abundant in our formulas, it’s hydrating and soothing components.

This philosophy walks hand in hand with the increasingly popular «slow food» movement. Both approaches embrace:
―  mindful consumption
―  getting the result not at any cost
―  ethical interaction with the world

Sensory Beauty. The brand’s visual identity and logo were inspired by archaeological artifacts from the Trypillian culture,  a highly developed civilization that thrived in present-day Ukraine between 5500 and 3000 BCE, predating the Egyptian pyramids. The Trypillians practiced agriculture, pottery, and built proto-urban settlements. The logo is based on a stylized symbol of time and earth’s renewal, drawn from Trypillian ceramics.

The name Re[Sens] is a fusion of two ideas. “RE” a moment of rethinking — where a high-quality, healthy product and its packaging do not harm the planet. “SENS” derives from “senses” and skin sensitivity. Reflects a holistic approach — where product, packaging, and perception align with conscious care.

The cosmetics industry ranks among the top polluters due to its reliance on plastic. Yet the purity and fertility of the earth are shared values — both for modern consumers and the ancient Trypillians. That’s why, during brand development, the team sought alternatives to plastic packaging.

From Pollution To Solution. Several sustainable packaging materials were selected:

― Cream jars are made from Sulapac. This is a material made from wood chips sourced from industrial side streams, combined with biodegradable biopolymers. It is compostable under industrial conditions and biodegrades without leaving behind persistent microplastics. It also enables us to reduce CO₂ emissions without compromising manufacturing efficiency or customer satisfaction. The material gives products a luxurious look and feel. The ceramic-like sound and tactile texture of the visible wood chips make it truly exceptional

―  Boxes are crafted from mycelium. Mycelium is the root-like structure of mushrooms made out of thousands of tiny threads serving as a binding agent. The mycelium feeds and binds the stems of industrially grown crops (agricultural waste, such as hemp). Thermal treatment makes the final composite material rigid and each box acquires a unique, organic-looking pattern. And it fully biodegrades in soil within 30–45 days, contributing to improved soil quality. Compared to cardboard, mycelium offers water-saving benefits and functions as a natural heat barrier.

―  Tubes are made of aluminum, sealed with wooden caps. Each lid comes with a hand-made thread for a precise fit. Currently, the brand uses only 3% plastic in its packaging — small tester lids that are not yet technologically feasible to replace with wood.

―  Branded bags are made from Releaf Paper—a material produced without wood pulp, using only a renewable resource: fallen leaves. This process has minimal environmental impact and results in low carbon emissions during production. Testers are packed in flowering paper booklets made from recycled paper. They can be planted in soil to grow flowers.

That’s why one of the brand’s slogans is:  “After Us, Only Flowers.”
