Project Description: “100 Days of Fictional Brands” is a design experiment that reimagines one fictional comic-book brand each day, translating it for the real world. This 100-day project , undertaken for the SVA Masters in Branding program , explores how the brands that “silently powered” universes like Marvel and DC can inform modern brand strategy. Each day’s work is presented as a “brand bento box” featuring a strategic repositioning, a new logo, a complete identity system, and real-world mockups.
Inspiration: The project is rooted in a childhood fascination with the power of fictional branding. As a kid, I “inhabited” comics and was so convinced by the brands in their pages that I tried to find them in the phone book. This led to the core insight that “design can make fiction feel locally listed”. I was captivated by how entities like Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprises functioned as silent characters that shaped plots and identities without “begging for attention”. This project aligns directly with my personal brand mission to “channel polymathic creativity into immersive visual language” and bring “Coherence in Creative Complexity”.
Process: A strict two-hour daily time limit governed the process, forcing me to design, decide, and “start again tomorrow.” Brand Selection followed three simple checks:
The logo must be on the page.
It must match a real-world business.
It must push the story forward.
I then built the four-part “brand bento box”:
Lore Hook: A quick nod to its comic origin.
Brand Purpose: A succinct promise, like “Built for justice. Branded for grit.”
Logo Redesign: A new logo shown side-by-side with the original comic art.
Real-World Mockups: Mockups to prove the brand’s viability.
The 100-day discipline taught me that not every logo is perfect. The bad ones are a reflective part of the journey that leads to the really good ones.
