The first gin from Premiata Distilleria Fabbri was crafted in Bologna in the 1920s by its founder, Gennaro Fabbri. Today—one century later—it returns in a new guise, faithful to its original spirit yet enriched with the distinctive note of Fabbri’s Purissimo Distillato di Amarena. A refined gin has accompanied the company’s history since its earliest chapters, and that legacy is now reinterpreted through a contemporary design language shaped by the city of Bologna, its iconic porticoes, and the packaging conceived by Hangar Design Group.
The entire project stems from meticulous research into early-20th-century stylistic codes, rediscovered in archival materials and reimagined for the present. The bottle’s soft, faceted silhouette echoes the original 1920s shape, while rose-gold accents elevate the identity and symbolise Fabbri’s most precious treasure: the Amarena cherry. Clean, balanced typography draws directly from historical lettering, its proportions updated to achieve an elegant and distinctive presence on the bar counter. Transparent glass and an uncoated paper label—embellished with rose-gold foil—underline a design built around visual purity and authenticity, an aesthetic stance that enhances the spirit it contains.
The packaging was conceived to showcase and celebrate the product: a dry gin distilled with juniper berries, bitter orange peels, liquorice and angelica roots, coriander and cardamom seeds, combined with Fabbri’s signature Purissimo Distillato di Amarena. Crystal clear in appearance, it offers an aromatic equilibrium in which botanicals blend seamlessly with the unmistakable fragrance of Amarena Fabbri.
On the palate, coriander emerges first, followed by the freshness of citrus and the balsamic notes of juniper. The Amarena contributes a lingering finish, encouraging a second sip and giving the gin its uniquely persistent character.
In mixology, it is an ideal spirit for inspiring bartenders to create new interpretations or reinvent timeless classics such as the Martini, Negroni or Italian Collins. By merging century-old heritage with contemporary creativity, the project reintroduces an iconic product to a new generation of professionals and enthusiasts.
