Elska by Kind Brings Deep Ocean Innovation to Life Through Thoughtful Brand and Packaging Design

Elska — Wildly Precious
Elska is a seafood company founded on a unique brotherhood between Norway and Iceland — two nations united by the ocean and driven by a shared responsibility to protect the wild. Created to address one of humanity’s greatest challenges — feeding a growing world without harming the ecosystems that sustain us — Elska represents a radical shift in aquaculture.

Through a pioneering method called Deep Ocean Ranching, Elska raises fish 200 meters below the surface, in its true wild habitat. Using natural fish fry and specialised light technology, the system attracts krill, zooplankton and mesopelagic species — recreating the natural food chain instead of replacing it. The only visible element is a single floating ring with a soft light, leaving the ocean surface virtually untouched.

The result is a fish as close to wild as aquaculture can be: naturally fed, naturally conditioned and naturally thriving. A system aligned with ecology — not against it.

Elska’s purpose is embedded in its name: a Nordic word meaning to care, to cultivate, to cherish, or simply to love. And what we love, we must protect.

The brand celebrates the emotional truth that the wild is our most precious resource. Its pillars — Wildly Delicious, Wildly Nutritious, Wildly Precious, Wildly Ambitious — express Elska’s commitment to nurturing nature while feeding the future.

The visual identity reflects this philosophy: a custom hand-drawn logotype forming a continuous lifeline, symbolising the deep-sea pen and our responsibility to the ocean. Two interlinked E’s form the emblem — a sign of Icelandic–Norwegian brotherhood. Handwritten elements like “Nurtured Naturally” reinforce the brand’s authenticity and human touch.

The result is a poetic yet purposeful identity — ocean-smart engineering blended with natural elegance.

Elska’s system offers multiple ecological advantages:
• Fish grow in their natural deep-sea environment
• Natural, wild diet attracted by specialised light wavelengths
• No artificial feed, antibiotics or coastal strain
• No escape risk, using wild local species
• Minimal surface presence and low mechanical stress

Elska speaks to governments, aquaculture operators, consumers, and fishermen — uniting them around the shared belief that the ocean deserves better.

Elska is, at its heart, a love story between humanity and the sea.
Cherishing the wild to feed the future.

Packaging Design — Nurtured Naturally
The packaging for Elska’s fish loin series is designed with the same philosophy that guides the brand: natural elegance, honest materials, and a deep respect for the ocean. Each pack is crafted from recyclable, colour-dyed cardboard in Elska’s signature palette, allowing the product range to be easily distinguished while maintaining a cohesive, premium expression.

The construction itself is simple yet refined — a single curved sheet of cardboard that gently wraps the loin, offering protection while presenting the product with understated confidence. A slender opening along the front reveals a glimpse of the fillet beneath, creating a tactile moment of discovery. The ends of the sleeve remain open, reducing material usage and reinforcing the concept of purity and lightness.

Inside, the loin is secured using a skin-pack solution, bonding the fillet directly to the cardboard’s interior surface. This method creates an almost invisible seal around the product, highlighting freshness and preserving the clean, minimalist aesthetic.

To elevate the packaging further, each sleeve features a blind-embossed natural pattern — four different organic textures inspired by the ocean and deep-sea environments — that distinguishes variants while staying true to Elska’s visual universe. The hand-drawn signature adds a final layer of personality and refinement, underscoring the handcrafted nature of the identity and the care embedded in every part of the brand.

The result is packaging that feels honest, tactile, and deeply connected to nature — a physical manifestation of Elska’s promise: Nurtured Naturally.

Wildly Crafted.
Elska stands apart in a category dominated by cold, industrial plastics. Where competitors feel mechanical, Elska feels human. Where others look mass-produced, Elska looks crafted.

The packaging uses tactile, recyclable materials that evoke the natural world the brand protects. The elegant half-tube construction, refined embossing, and rich, understated colour fields create a sensory experience rare in seafood packaging — warm, premium, and unmistakably intentional. It feels like a product shaped with care.

While other brands rely on cluttered graphics and glossy plastics, Elska’s minimalist aesthetic and sculptural form deliver instant stand-out. Its purity, texture, and elegance communicate authenticity and trust.

Naturally unforgettable.
