Elska Identity
Elska — Wildly Precious
Elska is a seafood company born from a unique brotherhood between Norway and Iceland — two nations united by the ocean, bound by heritage, and driven by the responsibility to protect what matters most. Elska exists to solve one of the defining challenges of our time: how to feed a growing world without destroying the ecosystems that sustain us.
Through a revolutionary approach they call Deep Ocean Ranching, Elska offers a new blueprint for the future of seafood. Using natural fish fry, cod is raised 200 metres below the surface, in its true wild habitat. With the gentle use of light technology, the system attracts krill, zooplankton, and mesopelagic species — recreating the natural food chain rather than replacing it. The only thing visible at the surface is a single floating ring with a softly glowing light, leaving no trace and no disruption to ordinary marine traffic.
The result is a fish that is as close to wild as aquaculture can be, naturally fed, naturally conditioned, and naturally thriving.
This is aquaculture brought back to nature.
The Challenge
By 2050, the world’s population will reach 9.7 billion, demanding dramatically more food, more clean water, and more sustainable protein. We are running out of arable land, and nearly 90% of global marine fish stocks are fully exploited or overfished. In our attempt to compensate, we have begun farming fish on land and raising cattle at sea, drifting further and further from what nature intended.
Aquaculture faces a critical paradox: the world needs more seafood, yet the ocean cannot withstand more pressure. Traditional farming methods are straining coastlines, stressing ecosystems, and depending heavily on artificial feed.
To nourish the future, we must realign with nature — not fight it.
The Solution — Cultivating Healthy Proteins on Nature’s Terms
Elska’s answer is Deep Ocean Ranching: a system that brings life back to the ocean instead of taking life from it. By placing the pen deep within the natural habitat of wild cod, they remove the environmental strain associated with traditional coastal aquaculture. Instead of artificial feed, the fish eat what the ocean provides. Instead of being confined to unnatural environments, they swim freely in their natural elements.
Elska’s light technology uses precisely selected wavelengths to attract zooplankton and mesopelagic species — a natural buffet that mimics the deep-sea ecosystem’s ecological balance. Natural waste disperses harmlessly along the seabed, avoiding the concentrated pollution issues of coastal farms.
The advantages are significant:
· The fish grows in its natural environment, creating exceptional fish welfare.
· The fish eat wild, natural feed, producing healthier, more nutritious seafood.
· There is no risk of escape, as wild fish are ranched in their own ecosystem.
· Low surface profile means minimal impact on waves, currents, wildlife, seals, and navigation.
· The system is nearly invisible, with almost nothing visible from the surface.
A Name with Purpose
Elska is both Icelandic and Norwegian. It means to care, to cultivate, to cherish — or simply, to love.
And what we love, we must protect.
Elska protects the wild.
Elska protects the natural.
Elska protects the planet and its diversity.
We cultivate fish on nature’s terms because the ocean deserves our reverence, not our exploitation.
Wildly Precious — A Brand Built on Emotion
At Elska, we are wild about seafood — and wild about the ocean that makes it possible. Our communication is built around the emotional truth that the wild is our greatest resource.
This becomes a coherent narrative expressed through four defining pillars:
· Wildly Delicious — naturally fed, naturally flavorful
· Wildly Nutritious — rich in nutrients from wild marine feed
· Wildly Precious — the planet and its ecosystems deserve protection
· Wildly Ambitious — in our commitment to transform aquaculture through innovation
And behind it all is our driving creative value:
Wildly Curious — constantly exploring what happens when we let nature lead.
Every product we create is:
Nurtured Naturally. A symphony of sea and soul.
What we cherish, we must protect at all costs.
Elska invites people to immerse themselves in a world where every morsel tells a story of harmonious coexistence, where seafood is raised not despite nature, but because of it.
Brand Identity — A Love Letter to the Ocean
The Elska identity is crafted as an elegant typographic system in which the name extends into a continuous line — a visual metaphor for a lifeline. This line becomes the rope that holds the deep-water pen in place, the line that can lower or raise it, and symbolically, the line that ties human responsibility to the deep sea.
The logo symbol merges two E’s into a single form, representing the Norwegian–Icelandic brotherhood at the heart of Elska. It is a mark of unity, commitment, and shared guardianship of the ocean.
To emphasise authenticity and the natural world Elska seeks to protect, the identity also incorporates handwritten expressions such as “Nurtured Naturally.” These handwritten elements bring a human touch to the brand — a reminder that caring for the ocean is a personal promise.
The logotype itself is custom and hand-drawn, crafted to feel delicate yet deliberate. Its refined imperfections evoke the fragility of marine ecosystems and the elegance of natural forms. The handcrafted expression underlines a deeper truth: Elska is not mass-produced but thoughtfully created, shaped by human hands and guided by nature’s values.
The identity blends poetry and engineering: natural elegance with ocean-smart functionality. It reflects a brand that cultivates with care, innovates with respect, and treats the ocean not as a resource, but as something to be cherished.
Deep Ocean Ranching — The Future of Aquaculture
Elska’s system embodies what aquaculture must become:
A method aligned with ecology, not against it.
Key advantages of Elska’s deep ocean ranching include:
· Fish are raised in their natural deep-sea environment
· A natural diet attracted by specialised light wavelengths
· No artificial feed, antibiotics, or coastal stressors
· No escape risk — wild fish remain in their ecosystem
· Minimal environmental footprint with dispersed natural waste
· Almost no visible surface structure — preserving marine landscapes
· Low mechanical stress from waves, weather, seals, and currents
This approach produces fish that are naturally conditioned, healthier, and richer in nutrients — while restoring ocean balance rather than depleting it.
Target Audience
Elska’s reach spans a broad yet interconnected ecosystem:
· Governments, seeking sustainable marine solutions
· Aquaculture operators, looking for next-generation farming models
· Consumers, who demand natural, ethical seafood
· Fishermen, eager for ocean-positive methods that strengthen livelihoods
Elska is designed to unite all of them under one shared vision.
Cherishing the Wild to Feed the Future
Elska represents a radical shift in aquaculture: a system that respects the ocean’s intelligence, works with its rhythms, and restores what has been lost.
What we hold dearest, we must protect at all costs.
Elska protects the wild by cultivating it on nature’s terms.
Elska protects the future by feeding it responsibly.
Elska protects the ocean by letting it remain itself.
A love story between humanity and the sea.
