PXL is a creative production house that integrates creation, planning, production, and technical expertise under one roof. With an emotionally driven approach to storytelling, PXL goes beyond mere information delivery—it forges deep, lasting connections with audiences. Over the past five years, PXL has significantly expanded its service portfolio, outgrowing its previous name and identity. We developed a bold new brand and tone of voice that authentically reflects their evolution, ensuring their promise resonates powerfully with their client base. Whilst the previous brand was very tame and unobtrusive, we need to create a much bigger statement. And whilst the company had a naming strategy, it was born out of an internal organisational necessity rather than thinking about a relevant offering for the outside world. We introduced clear business chapters to create clarity for all potential identified target groups. An issue that the organisation previously struggled to communicate.
We changed the name from Pixelgalaxie to PXL as part of the process. Shortening the name to a more succinct word mark was one of the major overhauls in the rebranding process. The organisation’s old name, »Pixelgalaxie«, sounds a bit dusty from today‘s perspective. The abbreviated version of the agency name gives the agency a new bold visual asset that radiates self-confidence to the outside world. It functions as a visual anchor or as an image mask. We wanted to create a wordmark that was simple enough to work well on technicians’ t-shirts, just as on pencils of the creatives.
With FKT Gnarly we found a grotesk typeface that ticked all of our boxes. It delivers a friendly cheakiness and works as a treat in big sizes but works just as well in copytext sizes. It comes with nice little details in its extremities and has some ink traps that are not exaggerated but still emphasized. The tone of voice was transferred from objectivity to a lively, more human language to reflect the team’s irreverent spirit.
