Tato Reinvents Boca Grande as a Sophisticated Speakeasy Experience

Founded by entrepreneur Guilherme Fecury in 2019, Boca Grande began as a small delivery service and soon became one of the most popular restaurants in São Luís. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a local reference, known for its distinctive atmosphere and strong connection with the city’s culture. As the business expanded, the brand needed a new identity that reflected this evolution. Tato was invited to lead the repositioning, developing a new visual identity and redesigning the restaurant’s commercial architecture.

The main goal was to capture the cinematic feel of classic mafia films and bring it into a contemporary and accessible context. The idea was to create an experience that felt modern and authentic while maintaining the brand’s character and local roots. Every decision, from the logo to the interior details, aimed to balance nostalgia with a clear and confident visual language.

The identity uses a palette of green, brown, and gray tones combined with materials such as wood and velvet, evoking the intimacy and atmosphere of 1920s speakeasies. The typography and layout were designed to express strength and simplicity, while graphic elements and textures add warmth and consistency across applications.

The new system connects all touchpoints, from menus and packaging to digital communication and interior design, creating a cohesive and memorable experience. Through this work, Tato helped Boca Grande evolve beyond its original concept, turning it into an environment where design, flavor, and storytelling coexist naturally under one clear message: Classics never die.
