Play Garmon is an international folk song and music festival. Folklore festivals, native songs accompanied by garmon and the original atmosphere of Russian folk art! Folklore groups, from amateur ensembles from distant villages to recognized masters of the stage, come here from different countries not to compete, but to “play” — in the old, most honest sense of the word. Forgotten rituals come to life here, dialectal melodies sound, and the distinctive atmosphere of Russian folk art fills everyone, turning the audience into participants in a common action.

The visual style of the festival is a modern interpretation of folk aesthetics and the very shape of the garmon. The garmon is not just painted — it plays, spreads its furs, pulsates to the beat of the music. In the dynamics of the shape, in the animation on the screens, in the waving banners, this movement, this “inhale-exhale” of the holiday is felt everywhere. This creates an incredible feeling of real, live action coming straight from the heart — as sincere and warm as the sound of bellows being stretched.

The new image of the festival was inspired by Shuya garmonies, produced in the city of Shuya, Vladimir province, since the end of the 19th century. They were famous not only for their strong, velvety sound, but also for their incredible, interesting decor.
