About Face – A New Direction for Slouch Hat

Slouch Hat Wines’ newest brand, About Face, is all about breaking away from the crowd and chasing your dreams, even if it means standing out or taking a different path. Inspired by the brand owner’s military background, the name is a command that means, “a turn made so as to face the opposite direction.”

From their website: “Their missions (wines) are limited releases. Their first wine, Mission CC-RB-23-A, is a 2023 Central Coast Red Blend.
For Mission: CC-RB-23-A, they tasked themselves with creating a bold, yet balanced Bordeaux blend from California’s Central Coast.
They reconnoitered multiple AVAs to find the perfect wines to form this blend. Ultimately, they discovered world-class Merlot from the Santa Ynez Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon from Adelaida District. These two wines perfectly complemented each other and came together to form a wine that swings way outside its weight class. Thus, accomplishing their mission of creating the highest quality red blend at the best possible price.
Tasting notes: A full-bodied Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend with baked blackberry, leather, and herbal aromas leading the charge. Next through the breach are wonderful notes of plum, red cherry, and baking spice on the palate with surprisingly gentle tannins.”

We developed an abstract illustration of two alternating faces highlighted in a black gloss to represent the about face to a new direction. The cork is emblazoned with two mirrored “Fs” that form the letter A, creating a proprietary monogram for the brand.
