Bold Floor-level packaging for Damos

Damos (Строй-Полимер) is an extrusion and hand-tools manufacturer that markets the Shipmayak-S product under its own brand—a practical and reliable solution for floor levelling. The objective of this project was to design packaging that could clearly communicate the product’s function, build trust and closeness with the consumer, and visually reflect its context of use in the construction process. At the same time, the design needed to differentiate itself in a highly competitive market segment and remain visually recognisable on the shelf.

During the research phase, I analysed the competitive landscape and identified two dominant design approaches: on the one hand, hyper-realistic visuals, and on the other, packaging overloaded with technical information. Both designs created a barrier to quick understanding and consumer connection. Based on these insights, I set out to create a more balanced and distinctive solution—one that would be functional yet inviting, technical yet accessible.

The resulting design is built around a clean and straightforward composition, led by an explanatory vector illustration that demonstrates the product in use. The most distinctive element is the tiled wall in the background, referencing bathrooms and kitchens. This detail highlights the versatility of the product, showing that it is not only suitable for large construction projects but also for smaller, more specific applications in everyday settings.

To support clarity and usability, I developed a set of minimalist pictograms. These icons were carefully designed to convey key technical information quickly and effectively, without cluttering the packaging or overwhelming the user. This visual language reinforces the product’s positioning as practical, trustworthy, and easy to understand.
In addition to visual clarity, the design strategy considered consumer psychology at the point of sale. By combining technical precision with approachable aesthetics, the packaging builds confidence while maintaining a sense of familiarity. It bridges the gap between professional construction contexts and domestic renovations, making the product relevant to both markets.

The final result is packaging that not only meets the functional requirements of the brief but also elevates the product’s identity within the Damos brand portfolio. It establishes a clear, modern, and competitive image that reflects the company’s expertise in extrusion and hand tools while opening the door to a more consumer-oriented positioning. This project demonstrates how strategic design decisions—rooted in research, clarity, and brand values—can transform a technical product into one that communicates with authenticity, confidence, and lasting impact.
