Hamza Efendi is a company that produces and sells regional delicacies in Türkiye, particularly known for its syrupy desserts. Serving ice cream alongside desserts like baklava is a popular choice. It’s both refreshing and lightens the dessert. The company took a step toward expanding its portfolio by selling refreshing, handmade ice cream alongside its desserts. However, this step fell short in its packaging design. With a new packaging design, they aim to bring ice cream to consumers both in their own stores and at local sales points. At this point, the company contacted us. Their request was clear: the ice cream category would expand its packaging options to include small containers, 500g containers, and cut ice cream in cardboard boxes. They wanted us to create different designs for these three main ice cream groups. We initially started with small containers. These products, which would also be sold outside the company’s sales outlets, now needed visuals and a modern style. Vibrant colors to differentiate the product range were crucial. A packaging design that appealed to young people was key. They wanted these containers to reflect the company’s vision, rather than the classic ice cream designs sold in Türkiye.
What did we do?
First, we determined the colors that would distinguish each flavor and used them on the packaging. This achieved maximum differentiation. To support these colors, we placed large ice cream images on the packaging. These ice creams, displayed on a golden spoon, evoke luxury and quality. We used the brand’s logo minimally and in a single color. We continued this legacy by adhering to the brand’s corporate colors.
We used various visuals to highlight the ingredients on various parts of the packaging.
With this move, the company launched in many supermarkets and modern sales channels. The feedback we received from consumers was invaluable. Among these feedback was the company’s evolution from its old, classic style to a more modern style, creating a more reassuring and contemporary experience. Other categories are also waiting to be introduced to consumers.
