Our brand creation for Cartografie, a visionary chocolate start-up, was grounded in a shared commitment to luxury, sustainability, biodiversity, and ethical sourcing. More than just chocolate, Cartografie invites consumers on a sensorial journey across the cocoa-producing world each detail in the brand narrative crafted to elevate and immerse.
From the outset, our focus was to create a visual and tactile language that expressed the brand’s rarefied essence. The bespoke logotype features a classic serif, carefully manipulated to mirror the flow of melting chocolate—its curves and connections evoking indulgence and refinement. Every letterform becomes part of a story about transformation and craft.
The colour palette draws deeply from terroir, rooting each product in the land from which its cocoa originates. Earthy, uncoated papers sit in harmony with a gloss-finished world map—symbolising the tension between raw nature and refined luxury. Gold foil accents trace the 20 degrees north and south of the equator, where cocoa beans ripen, and highlight Cartografie’s founding date with quiet confidence.
Sustainability is woven into every element—from a recyclable paper band that holds the structure together to responsibly sourced materials. Every piece, from the packaging to the printed booklet, has been designed to reflect the brand’s ethos of conscious beauty and exquisite detail.
The packaging is flat-packed and modular, meaning the inserts can be used across various box sizes, reducing storage and packaging waste. Assembled, they are a collection of no-glue, origami-style boxes that require hand folding to result in sustainable yet beautiful structures. All papers are FSC accredited, World Land Trust carbon balanced and recyclable.
