Medieval Numismatics of Eastern Europe (SNVE; СНВЕ; Средневековая нумизматика Восточной Европы – RUS) is a periodical publication dedicated to articles by various experts about historical coins from the territory of Russia and other Eastern European countries. The focus is specifically on medieval coins. This periodical takes the form of a book, with new volumes released every few years. The first edition was published in 2006. The publication does not have its own distribution channels; it is sold through other numismatic websites or bookstores. Therefore, when creating the brand identity, the task was to develop a website prototype, refresh the book’s layout, and create a full-fledged corporate style.

During the study of the category and communication with numismatists, their motivations for collecting coins were identified. Numismatics is not just a pastime or hobby, but also a process of studying history through coin collecting, where each coin is a mold, snapshot, or imprint of its era. Gradually adding new coins to the collection, a person assembles a more complete understanding of a particular historical period. Ultimately, by filling a coin album, the numismatist literally holds history in their hands.

For the corporate style, a variable font was developed based on letters found on ancient coins of Eastern Europe. Each character has several styles representing different historical eras. To support the metaphor of “holding history in your hands,” 3D graphics are used, depicting impressions of words on a metallic canvas or coins. This technique reinforces the tactile sensation, which is very important for coin collectors.
