Drivo, a leading car rental brand in New York, underwent a comprehensive UX/UI redesign to enhance user experience. The outdated design was replaced with a modern and intuitive interface.
The website’s design was outdated, giving users the impression of being from the early 2000s. It was cluttered with unnecessary details, had a complex navigation system, and used stock icons and images. This negatively impacted the booking process, as users often got stuck on the initial screen, unsure of where to go next. The five-step booking system further complicated the rental process.
We started by rethinking the website’s logic and UX. Our goal was to ensure that users could easily understand the purpose of the site and navigate it intuitively.
We redesigned the personal account, which previously only allowed users to enter basic information for auto-filling during the booking process. We transformed it into a comprehensive service, including:
1. Booking history (active, cancelled, completed)
2. Loyalty balance and cashback
3. Convenient payment method management
This made the personal account a valuable tool for users, increasing the monthly growth of registered users from 3% to 14% and the frequency of account interactions by 76%.
We also simplified the booking process based on user analytics. The previous five-step system was reduced to three steps:
1. Rental parameters selection
2. Personal data entry
3. Additional options
We introduced a user-friendly widget for selecting locations, dates, and car models. Personal data was grouped by family parameters, and insurance and additional options were implemented through simple toggles. This resulted in a 30% increase in the average speed of completing bookings.
We expanded and structured the product grid. Previously, cars were randomly displayed, causing user confusion. We categorized them into:
1. Regular cars (compacts, sedans, SUVs, minivans)
2.Vans (passenger vans for 12-15 people, commercial vans)
3. Long-term rentals
4. Partner programs
5. Corporate programs
We also developed “Car Brands” pages to provide detailed information about available car models. Each Drivo location now has its own page with working hours, address, and parking map.
We redesigned the Help Center, replacing text-heavy content with a well-organized FAQ section and a chat feature for quick support. We also expanded the blog with articles and guides tailored for different audiences (tourists, families, businesses), enhancing user engagement and SEO.
The redesign transformed the website into an integral part of the Drivo brand, providing a seamless and efficient platform for users to find and rent cars. Key metrics improved significantly:
1. 51.7% decrease in website bounce rate, especially on the homepage.
2. 29% increase in successful bookings and full booking scenario completion.
This project successfully aligned the UX with offline and digital channels, making the Drivo brand more consistent and user-friendly.
