Bio-Roma: Compostable Zipper Bag by Packoroma

Bio-Roma: Compostable Zipper Bag by Packoroma

Bio-Roma is a next-generation packaging innovation designed to eliminate plastic from everyday packaging without compromising functionality. Developed by Packoroma, Bio-Roma bags are the world’s first zipper and locked bags that are fully plastic-free, mineral-based, and certified home and industrially compostable.

Inspired by nature, Bio-Roma aims not just for recyclability, but for complete disappearance, to be reborn again from its own dust. With its patented structure and biodegradable composition, it offers a real alternative for industries seeking to reduce their environmental footprint.

The project was initiated and led by Zeynep Ilgaz Çiftçi, founder of Packoroma, with a vision to transform the packaging industry through circular and regenerative design.

Driven by a deep-rooted desire for transformation since childhood, Zeynep never followed a conventional path. Her decision to leave the traditional education system and return to nature marked a turning point in her life. During her two years in Peru, she reconnected with nature, discovered e-commerce, and expressed herself through freelance design. This period deepened her passion for sustainability and led her to seek bold solutions to the plastic problem.

Today, she pioneers a revolution in the packaging sector by developing plastic-free, reusable, and fully compostable bio-bags. Her patented innovation introduces cutting-edge, nature-based materials to the industry. Shaped by female leadership and strengthened by solidarity, Packoroma has grown into a bold and conscious structure led by women.

Zeynep believes that learning gains meaning through life and experience. She continues to create and inspire for a future in harmony with nature.
She emphasizes that real sustainability can only begin where the world is most industrial, in the womb of production. Every transformation requires a structure that can replace what once was. With Packoroma, this is possible.

**The project has been supported by EU funding under the New European Bauhaus initiative, and Bio-Roma was selected by the jury for exhibition in the prestigious Avant-Garde area at Packaging Première & PCD Milan 2025.
