Fracción Studio Builds a Soulful Identity for Sumercé Coffee Rooted in Colombian Heritage

Sumercé Coffee is more than just a coffee brand — it’s a tribute to the rich cultural and agricultural heritage of Colombia. The name “Sumercé,” a respectful and affectionate expression from the Andean region, connects tradition with warmth, hospitality, and authenticity. This linguistic and cultural anchor became the foundation for building a brand that feels close, rooted, and proudly local.

We developed the brand strategy and visual identity for Sumercé Coffee with the intention of creating a sensorial and emotional experience around every cup. From the very beginning, our focus was to highlight the stories behind the beans — the landscapes, the people, the dedication, and the ancestral knowledge involved in growing and harvesting coffee in Colombia. This narrative was translated into a visual system that feels handcrafted, sincere, and evocative.

The illustrations, created by Daniela, bring warmth and soul to the packaging, connecting each product to a unique story from the region. The typographic selection — including a custom display type from Bastarda Type — balances modernity with a human, rustic quality that matches the artisanal character of the brand. The color palette was inspired by Colombian earth tones, plant life, and textiles.

The packaging and brand experience were designed to resonate both locally and internationally. We wanted the identity to be visually attractive on a shelf while also conveying depth and authenticity to coffee lovers worldwide.

Through Sumercé Coffee, we invite people to take part in something more meaningful — a moment of connection with the land, the people, and the spirit of Colombia.
