Affogato Brand Design Elevates Dorado with a Rich, Global Coffee Story in Every Detail

The name Dorado, meaning “golden” in Spanish, immediately set the tone for our creative direction. Gold is often associated with luxury, rarity, and value — all qualities we wanted the brand to embody. But more than that, it became a metaphor for the coffee itself. Coffee beans, when perfectly roasted, take on a rich, golden-brown hue. In many cultures, coffee is referred to as “black gold.” This symbolism anchored our brand in both linguistic and visual terms.

One of the most distinctive elements of the Dorado brand is its visual language. Since gold was our central metaphor, we embraced the idea of golden embroidery as a recurring motif. Embroidery, traditionally associated with luxury garments, craftsmanship, and heritage, became a symbolic representation of the careful roasting process and the intricacy involved in curating high-quality beans.

Illustration lies at the heart of Dorado’s identity. We steered clear of generic coffee imagery and instead opted for poetic visuals that reflect the emotion and energy of a bean’s voyage. Every illustration is layered with meaning — a surreal combination of landscapes, flora, maps, and people, blending the natural world with human imagination. There is a sense of movement and flow in the visuals, echoing the journey motif that inspired the brand.

These golden embroidery-inspired patterns were integrated into our packaging design, branding materials, and visual assets. The textures and patterns, often seen in regal textiles and couture fashion, were translated into sleek, embossed illustrations that adorn the coffee packaging like heirlooms.

From the outset, we knew Dorado would occupy a premium space. But we were careful not to equate luxury with pretension. Instead, we aimed for a warm, thoughtful kind of luxury — one that values experience, story, and craft. The brand is for those who see coffee not just as a stimulant, but as a soulful daily ritual. It is for explorers of taste, lovers of beauty, and those who appreciate the small details that elevate everyday moments.

We hope that every cup of Dorado coffee invites people into the world we’ve created — a world of golden stories, bold flavors, and global journeys. Because sometimes, what we drink is more than just what’s in the cup. It is the story behind it that makes it golden.
