Almost 100 years after that inaugural harvest, Taylors founder Bill Taylor acquired the property, becoming a proud custodian of this remarkable piece of winemaking history. Recognising its potential, the Taylor family set about restoring the vineyard’s legacy — replanting vines in the rich, fertile soils and nurturing them with the same passion and care that defined its earliest days. In 1999, the first Taylors-produced St Andrews wines were released, marking the rebirth of an icon.
This limited St Andrews 1896 release draws inspiration from the land’s ancient past and its deep connection to the Taylor family. The vineyard rests on what was once an inland sea, revealed through fossilised seahorses — the inspiration for Taylors’ iconic logo.
The numerals on the label intertwine with the seahorse identity, echoing vine tendrils. Carefully selected finishes — from embossing to foiling — reflect the wine’s quality. Each bottle is individually numbered, underscoring its uniqueness.
