Oliver’s Taranga – The Hunt for Mrs Oliver, Late Disgorged
Byerlee Design was engaged to create a brand and packaging experience for one of Oliver’s Taranga’s most meaningful and meticulously crafted releases to date. Aged on lees for over nine years and recently disgorged, this premium Méthode Traditionnelle Sparkling Fiano is a rare expression of patience, precision and personal legacy.
Our creative direction was shaped by the deeply sentimental story behind this McLaren Vale wine. This special release honours Marjorie Oliver (née Hunt), the late grandmother of winemaker Corrina Wright and an influential matriarchal figure in her life. The Hunt for Mrs Oliver is both a nod to her maiden name and a poetic reference to the peaceful intrigue of sensing her presence in daily life — in the gardens she once nurtured, among the birds, and throughout the vines. It’s as though quiet little ‘hellos’ await around each corner, as nature continues to speak her name.
Oliver’s Taranga has been proudly family owned and operated for generations, with Marjorie representing the fourth, and today’s generation proudly continuing as the seventh. Their legacy is one of strength, warmth and connection to place.
The packaging brings this sentiment to life through an intricate copper foil illustration, delicately woven with echoes from Marjorie’s world: native birds, blooming flowers, knitting yarn, handwritten letters, baking utensils, gardening tools and serene vineyard references. Each detail is a tribute to her spirit — her creativity, care, and enduring influence on the land the family still lives and works upon.
This new and rare release from Oliver’s Taranga marks the beginning of a very special journey. With just 300 individually numbered bottles in this first vintage, future editions will continue to honour its small-scale, handcrafted philosophy.
The final package includes beautifully textured front and back labels, a sleek hoodless bottle, a custom copper muselet and a cigar-style neck band, presenting a refined, tactile expression of the wine’s emotional and winemaking significance.
Marjorie’s presence continues to guide the family in their work, their determination, and the thoughtful way they move through the McLaren Vale property she once helped shape. This release also celebrates Corrina Wright’s rightful place as Australia’s queen of Fiano — a winemaker crafting with character, elegance, and soul.
