Branding and label for Neotempo Wines’ luxury wine label Kiatra Estate.
We began design exploration with the opportunity to integrate Neotempo’s mission to put sustainability at the core of each facet of the project, and to blend the proprietors’ love of the importance of nature, art and science into a timeless luxury label that would seamlessly complement their self-developed 100% recycled glass hexagram shaped bottle. The patent pending hex bottle echoes hexagons found in nature, perfectly eliminating gaps and wasted space. The lightweight bottles are structurally strong and pack efficiently, reducing shipping costs and carbon footprint due to shipping emissions. The six facets of the bottle were an invitation to deeply consider light and shadow, and how that could be incorporated in our design.
The elegant, understated final Kiatra Estate label draws inspiration from the proprietors’ fourteen heritage oak trees surrounding the natural knoll at the center of their Napa Valley property. The oak trees first drew the proprietors to the site, and provides a unique identity to the vineyard.
The Neotempo word mark and “N” icon are simple and strong. Neotempo word mark can complement any surface and will be readable. The “N” icon can read up and down, backwards and forwards, and works beautifully on corks!
Featuring consciously selected materials in both bottle and packaging, we used ecofriendly engraving and sculptural embossing as a means to reduce the use of ink on 100 percent cotton paper. Keeping a simple, elegant palette allows the light and shadow to play across the embossing, highlighting different areas of the branches and trees as the light around the bottle changes. The subtle details of the oak trees invite additional exploration, to hold the bottle more, and to understand more of the brand story. The contrast of the embossed cotton paper with the smooth surface of the glass hints at the beautiful texture of the wine in bottle from the estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon. The white cotton label contrasts beautifully with the filled dark glass. The bottle is a stunning addition placed in any environment.
