Hima Seafood, the company behind the world’s largest land-based trout farm, stands as a beacon of sustainability with its fully circular ecosystem. Producing healthy proteins from Norway’s oldest trout lineage, Hima ensures that every part of the fish and process is utilised—where fish waste becomes organic fertiliser, returning life and nourishment to the land. KIND developed a four-volume catalogue to encapsulate this journey and introduce the Hima Superior Silver Trout as a quality product, each book embodying an aspect of the Hima vision and the creation of this “seafood superstar.”
Design Concept
The catalogue’s cover art reflects the trout’s natural beauty and remarkable quality. The cover simulates trout skin, with silver dots subtly suggesting the fish’s shimmering scales and evoking a starry night sky. The introduction line inspires this design choice: It takes a certain amount of darkness to see the stars. In a valley in Telemark, it’s pitch-black five months a year. Here, tall mountains protect the deep crystal-clear waters. This is the birthplace of a real seafood superstar.
Structure and Themes
The catalogue comprises four books: The Fish, The Land, The Water, and The Future. Each volume delves into the distinct facets of Hima’s operations:
The Fish focuses on the unique qualities and superior standards of the Hima Silver Trout.
The Land celebrates the fertile, sustainable landscape that supports Hima’s ecosystem.
The Water explores the crystal-clear mountain water that nourishes each fish.
The Future looks at Hima’s commitment to circular, sustainable aquaculture and a regenerative approach to farming.
Material and Print
The catalogue, produced using sustainable materials, features embossed textures and foil detailing, creating a tactile and exclusive feel. Its luxurious design reflects Hima’s dedication to quality and environmental stewardship, elevating the presentation of the trout and reinforcing the brand’s premium positioning.
Impact
Through this catalogue, KIND has crafted a visually and texturally rich narrative highlighting Hima’s world-leading sustainable practices and presenting the Hima Superior Silver Trout as an emblem of quality, sustainability, and innovation. The catalogue serves as both a sophisticated marketing tool and an educational piece, connecting Hima’s values to its customers and partners and positioning Hima Seafood as a pioneer in land-based aquaculture and regenerative food production.
