The Birth of a Seafood Superstar at Seafood Expo Barcelona
Hima Seafood has redefined aquaculture with the world’s largest land-based trout farm. Using crystal-clear, recirculated mountain water, Hima has pioneered a new approach to premium trout farming that’s as sustainable as it is innovative. In the remote, mysterious valley where fog (or “hima” in Norwegian) shrouds the land for much of the year, Hima trout flourish, nurtured by the untouched waters that flow from high-altitude lakes. This unique environment yields a trout that stands out for its quality, flavor, and environmental integrity.
A Name Rooted in Mystery and Nature
The name “Hima” captures the soul of the Rjukan Valley, where misty fog blankets the river and mountains, creating an atmosphere of hidden beauty and wonder. This fog, a natural veil, symbolizes the mystery that surrounds Hima’s sustainable aquaculture, slowly lifting to reveal the valley’s pure, cold waters and pristine landscape. With its origins in nature’s allure, Hima became not only a name but a narrative of the valley’s untamed charm and the exceptional trout that it produces.
Exhibition Concept at Seafood Expo Barcelona
For the world’s largest seafood expo, Hima created a stunning 260-square-meter, two-story exhibition stand that truly embodied the essence of its brand. Visitors were invited into a space designed to echo the tranquility of the Rjukan Valley, with serene zones for private meetings, a dedicated chef performing live culinary demonstrations, and installations explaining Hima’s circular technology and sustainable farming methods. At the heart of the exhibition was a physical model of Hima’s vast trout farm and the much-anticipated world debut of the Silver Trout Fillet in its innovative aluminum packaging. As one of the expo’s most-visited stands, Hima captivated the audience, inviting them to witness firsthand the meticulous care and natural elements that define Hima’s unique aquaculture approach.
Impact and Reception
Hima’s presence at Seafood Expo Barcelona was more than a brand launch; it celebrated another hero from Telemark: A Superior Silver Trout. The stand’s powerful combination of visual storytelling, culinary experiences, and technical insight left a lasting impression, drawing large crowds and media attention. The world debut of the Silver Trout Fillet was met with enthusiasm, and Hima’s sustainable, premium approach resonated deeply with industry leaders. The results spoke volumes: Hima secured contract interest for more than twice their first-year production capacity, marking the expo as a successful launch and as the beginning of a new chapter for Norwegian aquaculture.
