Alto Mando is an acceleration program aimed at Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs, initially from Mexico and Spain, with the goal of showcasing the potential of Latin American entrepreneurship. It rewards top projects with capital and establishes connections between them and the Silicon Valley ecosystem.
Mission: To provide the visibility that impactful projects led by Spanish speakers deserve.
Vision: To create the best startup accelerator in Mexico.
Product/Service: An online program lasting 9 weeks for 15 selected startups, followed by a 1-week immersion in Silicon Valley for the winning startup.
History: This initiative originates from XY Booster, an alternative asset manager that leads several funds with a social impact focus.
Positioning: The acceleration program stands out from the competition because it:
Provides Spanish-speaking projects access to the largest capital market in the world: the United States.
Features content created and presented by sector specialists residing in San Francisco during the initial 9 weeks.
Includes a week-long immersion in Silicon Valley, connecting the winning startup with potential investors and clients.
Offers visibility to local projects with global scalability.
Customises the program for each startup.
Cultural Context:
In the United States, where approximately 80% of all startup capital is raised globally, only 2% of that capital goes to projects led by women or people of color.
Values:
Purpose: It only accelerates initiatives that have a social purpose behind them.
Innovation: It values entrepreneurs who break the status quo.
Inclusion: It supports entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds to work together.
Rituals and Traditions:
Demo Days: Regular presentations at the end of each program where entrepreneurs showcase their progress.
Workshops and Seminars: Weekly training sessions throughout the program.
Networking Events: Gatherings to foster connections and collaborations.
Brand Creation
The development of the graphic identity is based on a typographic study of the history of Latin American culture, with a focus on protest posters. The aim is to revive these communication elements, characterized by strong and direct messages, using irregular typefaces and traditional, organic printing techniques. The branding is intended to be direct, urban, and aggressive, structured around a complex typographic system focused on the brand’s core messages.
