Introducing Barn to Butcher: A New Brand Creation for Retail Stores

Weinstein Wholesale Meats is a family-owned company with over 25 years of experience in wholesale distribution. They decided to launch a private label for retail stores and wanted to create honest packaging that would build consumer trust and tell a compelling story.

When Weinstein Wholesale Meats approached Design Resource Center with the task of introducing a new-to-the-world brand of premium beef products, it was an exciting opportunity that we were thrilled to accept.

From Concept to Creations
The challenge was to develop a brand that represents a superior product at a competitive price point and would stand out in a crowded market. Design Resource Center focused on capturing the brand essence beginning with consumer research, naming, and brand positioning.

Through in-depth category analysis and interactive brand-building exercises with the client, a tone of voice and name “Barn to Butcher” were established. This name implies a fresh, high-quality, and unprocessed product, appealing to those who appreciate all-natural, premium ingredients.

The packaging design pays homage to a time when purchasing meat directly from a neighborhood butcher was common practice. This nostalgic touch is reflected in the design, reminiscent of the traditional butcher paper wrap. The brand’s monogram, inspired by a cattle brand or maker’s mark, further enhances its connection to its roots.

The Power of Thoughtful Brand Creation
By combining tradition, authenticity, and innovation, Barn to Butcher has swiftly carved a niche for itself in the premium meat category. The brand is proudly available for purchase at both regional and national supermarket chains, including Woodman’s Market and Aldi. Its success has also led to an expansion of its product line, now including chicken breasts and wings, bratwursts, and sausages, providing consumers with more delicious at-home culinary experiences.

The journey from the creation of “Barn to Butcher” to its presence in retail stores today is a testament to the power of thoughtful brand creation.

SCOPE: Strategy, Brand Identity, Naming, Packaging Design and Sales Materials.
