Nova Wellness Spa Spatial Design Concept by Student Gemma Collins

Nova is a cutting-edge wellness spa that seamlessly blends advanced technology with holistic well-being. Nova redefines the wellness experience by nourishing, optimising, vitalising and alleviating the body and mind, immersing guests in a sensory journey to foster complete well-being and transformation. In an innovative move, Nova revitalises the Sunshine Café, nestled in Margate, with its majestic sea view, demonstrating a visionary approach to spa design and utilising the scenic backdrop opposite the site.

The Narrative:

In the heart of the bustling town of Margate, a beacon of tranquillity and rejuvenation awaits—Nova. As dawn breaks and the ocean whispers against the shore, Nova invites its newest guests to embark on a profound journey toward holistic well-being.

Upon arrival, guests surrender their tech devices at the reception desk to fully immerse themselves in Nova’s transformative experience, guided by AI. The journey begins with a comprehensive analysis of body and mind through advanced scanning techniques. A glass cylinder descending from the ceiling envelops guests, presenting them with smart spa wearables embedded with biometric sensors to monitor and enhance their personalised wellness journey.

Nova features distinct zones designed to cater to different aspects of wellness:

The Mind Zone (Green): Offers IV drips, yoga, light therapy, and aromatherapy to promote tranquillity. Guests are embraced by a panoramic vista overlooking the sea, fostering introspection and renewal. The Sea Infusion provides bespoke IV drip therapy, while the Calm Chamber offers waterbed yoga classes and tranquil seating. The Light Haven offers innovative light therapy and uses a spectrum of green, blue, and red light to evoke specific sensations and promote holistic well-being. The Scent Sanctuary indulges the senses with therapeutic scents.

The Body Zone (Blue): Provides a variety of hydrotherapy options, including sauna, steam, ice, and ocean-based therapies. The Heat Sanctuary offers warmth and cleansing, while the Chill Chamber invigorates with cool waters. The Steam Haven area provides muscle relief through rhythmic droplets and the Ocean Therapy area located at the end of the tunnel restores balance with aquatic serenity.

Nova is dedicated to using innovative sustainable materials that enhance well-being and represent the forefront of design, including hempcrete, recycled materials, locally sourced Margate sandstone, and biophilic design elements. Embracing sustainability, Nova collects rainwater that wraps around the fountain for drinking and maintains a rooftop greenhouse to supply ingredients for its herbal café. Additionally, energy-efficient features such as energy-harvesting flooring and solar glass windows are utilised to further reduce the environmental footprint.

As guests conclude their journey, they surrender their smart spa wearables and receive valuable insights and personalised recommendations for future visits. They are then invited to partake in a nourishing feast of herbal teas, lovingly cultivated in NOVA’s rooftop garden. Amidst the aroma of herbal elixirs, they savour each sip, indulging in a moment of pure relaxation and rejuvenation. Guests can also purchase NOVA’s signature products and scents, carrying with them a tangible reminder of their wellness journey.

Nova: Lighting the path to tomorrow’s success.
