Cacto Health, based in Denmark, specializes in healthcare technology with a focus on breast cancer-related diseases and their early detection for prevention. One of their primary concerns is Lymphedema, a chronic and progressive vascular disease that arises from damage to the lymphatic system, often following lymph node removal and radiation therapy in breast cancer treatments. This condition causes swelling in the arm on the side of the body that received treatment, affecting 50-65% of breast cancer survivors.
The mission of Cacto Health is to empower women to detect breast cancer-related Lymphedema early. To establish a strong visual presence, Cacto Health enlisted the expertise of designer Cansu Dagbagli Ferreira to create their visual identity. She crafted a brand identity that is both caring and supportive while maintaining a modern aesthetic. The visual identity had to reflect the company’s mission of empowering women to understand and detect Lymphedema, a significant condition affecting many breast cancer survivors. The logo she designed draws inspiration from the fluid forms, curves, and nodes that characterize the lymphatic system. This was an intentional design choice meant to symbolically represent the condition and raise awareness of its prevalence and impact. By doing so, the company aims to amplify the conversation about Lymphedema, encouraging early detection and intervention that could greatly improve the quality of life for those affected.
Cansu’s approach was to break away from the conventional appearance of medtech companies, which often seem stark or clinical. Instead, she envisioned a brand identity that embodies warmth, empathy, and approachability. By choosing a color palette that is clean yet bright, she skillfully evokes feelings of comfort and reassurance. This deliberate selection was made to make those interacting with the brand feel more at ease, reflecting the supportive role that Cacto Health aims to play in the lives of breast cancer survivors. Furthermore, the incorporation of modern typography serves to establish a perception of trust and dependability, key attributes in the healthcare industry. This thoughtful combination of elements not only reinforces the brand’s message but also bolsters Cacto Health’s position as a forward-thinking, innovative leader in healthcare technology, committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those it serves. Through this design, the brand effectively communicates its commitment to compassionate care, innovative technology, and impactful health solutions, unified in its mission to bring hope and support to those navigating the challenges of Lymphedema.
