Visual Identity for the Danish Prosecution Service by Upload Studio

Visual Identity for the Danish Prosecution Service by Upload Studio

New crown for an old institution founded on deep values. Ther new Crown and visual identity for the Prosecution Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the State Prosecutor.

The new identity is crafted to balance a contemporary and relevant expression while reflecting the institution’s core values of integrity and objectivity. It includes a redesign of the Prosecution Service’s various logos, incorporating a new color palette, updated typography, as well as icons and illustrations for use in both internal and external communications.

The pervasive purple color is taken from the robes worn by prosecutors, especially when they appear in the Supreme Court, where formal features and visual symbols have a special meaning. The color purple is symbolically charged with values such as dignity, authority and justice – values that the prosecution stands for in its daily work.

In today’s courtrooms, the purple robe therefore functions as a signal of the prosecution’s responsibility and objectivity. It is also a central part of the authority’s visual identity, enabling the public and other participants in the legal system to quickly identify the accused. The color choice, which is now also part of the public prosecutor’s office’s visual universe, goes hand in hand with the values and principles that underpin their work and supports the professionalism and trust that is essential for the institution’s credibility.

The crown is designed with inspiration from the iconic crown of Christian V, renowned for its distinctive S-shaped ornaments. These ornaments are carefully interwoven into a pattern that subtly forms a paragraph symbol, giving the crown a symbolic dimension. The paragraph symbol subtly references the well-known emblem within the judiciary, and this combination of elements imbues the crown with a unique depth and significance. In this way, the form of the crown unites the historical and the judicial—a combination that aesthetically honors both tradition and justice.

The logos are available in Danish, English, Faroese, and Greenlandic.
