Metropolitan Hospitality Group came to CF Napa Brand Design to design their spirits brand – Open Road Distilling Co. The products would be featured in their restaurants’ back bar and craft cocktails but also needed to have the power to stand alone as a timeless spirits brand.

From the distillery’s website: “Over the past 15 years of opening and operating restaurants, including award-winning fine dining and speakeasy-influenced concepts, the group established a meticulous process of tasting and revision that is used for recipe development. In their endeavor to offer the finest hand-crafted cocktails, an idea took hold that they should develop a line of quality spirits that would elevate our beverage offerings and our guests experiences. It was this idea that lead to the creation of Open Road Distilling Co. Located in the heart of Reston Town Center, Open Road Distilling Co. features an operational distillery, tasting room, and bonded store. ”

Inspired by the brand’s Washington, D.C. locale and badass ethos, CF Napa Brand Design created a package and logo design for Open Road Distilling Co. with an Americana sensibility. CF Napa Brand Design drew an eagle mid-flight, clutching a stalk of grain for the logo and main graphic element. The SKU-specific information was arranged on a separate label, allowing for the efficiency of using one screen-printed bottle for all spirits. The labels displayed the specialty name for each spirit as well as their own unique colors to assist with differentiation. Copper foil provided a final luxurious touch and was a subtle homage to the copper stills used to craft these premium spirits.
