We refined this school’s brand identity to better reflect its heritage and spirit.
Established in 1950, Riviera Schools’ Coral Gables campus stands as the city’s oldest independent school, embodying decades of educational excellence. With such a deep-rooted history, the school needed a refreshed logo and updated visual identity that would honor its legacy while embracing the vibrant energy that thrives within its community. The previous logo, though meaningful, had become outdated and visually cluttered. Our goal was to streamline the design, making it more modern, functional, and timeless.
We began by simplifying the logo, reducing the number of competing elements, and focusing on a single, strong symbol: a Banyan tree encased within a crest. The Banyan tree, a hallmark of Florida’s landscape, became the perfect metaphor for the school’s vision. Its deep roots represent the school’s longstanding traditions and values, while its expansive branches symbolize growth, learning, and the future of its students.
In addition to the new logo, we modernized the entire identity system by refining the typography and color palette. The school’s traditional navy blue was preserved as a nod to its established brand equity, but we complemented it with a softer palette of pink, light blue, and gray. This combination added warmth and balance, embodying both the strength and nurturing spirit of the Riviera community.
To further enrich the brand identity, we created supporting graphic elements, such as patterns and textures, that extended the visual language across multiple applications—from uniforms and signage to stationery and digital platforms. The result is a cohesive, flexible system that not only feels true to Riviera’s history but also invigorates the brand with a fresh, modern appeal fit for the future.
