Identity theft and online fraud cost billions globally every year. To counter this, digital identity verification company Trulioo helps businesses identify legitimate customers so they can conduct business safely and securely online. Among BC’s most innovative tech companies, Trulioo was about to relaunch their identity verification platform at a global scale. To do so, the brand – which had become fragmented over the years – needed to align with the business vision. Additionally, the brand narrative, which no longer reflected what the company provided, needed to evolve and connect with the enterprise audience they were looking to reach.
As we explored the space, we noticed how similar competitor brands appeared and messaged. Stock imagery, illustrations, and icons were abundantly used. Competitor brands favoured an overall “tech” visual treatment devoid of the real people who benefit from the technology. Delving deeper, we conducted market research to hear from Trulioo’s enterprise customers. A key takeaway was a general confusion when it came to products and services in the space along with low brand affinity. It became clear that no singular brand was leading the way which revealed an opportunity for Trulioo. Working with the leadership team, and closely connecting with their internal culture, we aligned the narrative to connect with their purpose while also speaking to the needs of the audience. Rolling out thestrategy, we applied it across every touch point – ranging from digital to print to environment.
