Brazil’s new gluten-free craft beer is surprisingly flavorful. So much so that it doesn’t cater exclusively to those intolerant to certain grains but to anyone who appreciates a good beer. From naming to identity, Desbrava (which means Explore, in Portuguese) comes to renew traditions, break fixed ideas, and surprise with a light and democratic experience, without sacrificing sophistication.
Our mission was to position the new brand in two different markets: gluten-free products and craft beers. On one side, a health-conscious audience with limited options available. On the other, beer enthusiasts are demanding about flavor and attached to their traditions. With the provocative tagline, “E se for melhor?” (What if it’s better?), and an inviting name, “Desbrava”, we developed a brand identity that is light, encouraging, and with a touch of humor.
Inspired by the idea of exploration and discovery, the logo and visual identity are symbolized by a flag planted in new territories. Using simple elements and triangular geometric shapes, we created striking graphics that adorn the labels and permeate the brand’s entire visual language. The combination of colors and the use of these graphics on labels, posters, and social media highlight a unique presence, both online and at points of sale alongside other traditional beers.
Desbrava is a beer that aims to change a lot of people’s minds. Always lightly, of course, just as gluten-free should be. From naming to verbal and visual universes, it ties together discourse, colors, graphics, and typography to captivate, challenge, and show that incredible things happen when we open ourselves up to them. What if it’s better?
