Né Nepal is a cultural design studio, rooted in Nepali culture championing the rich traditional handicrafts and skills of Nepali artisans existing since years. In 2018, Ishu & Tulja set out on a journey to put the craftsmanship from Nepal at the forefront while focusing on the environmental impact of each product. Since then, the brand has partnered with 140 artisans to create handcrafted pieces while reviving more than 6 traditional crafts of Nepal.
In 2021, Né Nepal was looking for a rebrand that would align with celebrating the beauty of Himalayan traditions and would serve as an insight into the preservation of tradition and culture of Nepal by the new generation. This set us on a path from 2021-2024 for a refreshed approach towards Brand Design, Photography, and Communication. We started with our research on Nepal and its people. To know more about a place, the starting place is always the culture and people. While the cliché association to Nepal can be peace and mountains, this called for a design intervention where we discovered that Nepal had more to offer at every step. Be it – it’s wonderful architecture, flowers, and symbols found commonly on the streets. The Brand Identity leans on a softer and traditional side – aligning closely to how one can feel when they walk into the store.
As a global brand, the aim was to focus back on our values and represent our true identity. The kind nature of people, the richness in tradition, and more importantly, the abundance of craft from multiple regions. It indicated motifs and symbols present from ancient times which required a refresh in interpretation. A similar philosophy that is seen across Né Nepal jewelry, tableware, and even a range of wellness.
