Set in the Algarve, this fine dining establishment offers a fusion of modern Asian cuisine enriched by the freshness of local Portuguese ingredients. It invites guests to experience a gastronomic journey through China, Japan, India, and Thailand while indulging in the most unique selection of sushi in the Algarve, masterly prepared by Chef Fábio Terada.
Sensai’s design draws deep inspiration from Asian culture and aesthetics, intricately weaving traditional gestures and symbols into its visual identity to evoke an immersive and authentic atmosphere. Coupled with a vibrant and cohesive colour palette, these elements authentically capture the essence of Asian traditions. The handling of the “special menu”, for instance, mirrors the graceful movements of a fan, echoing the symbolism of elegance and grace.
Shodō, the traditional Japanese art of calligraphy, was a significant source of inspiration for Sensai’s visual identity. Its fluid, linear style is reflected in the restaurant’s illustrations, lending a graceful and dynamic quality to the brand’s imagery.
Additionally, the logo incorporates references to the Chinese concept of Yin & Yang, reflecting balance and harmony, fundamental principles in ancient Asian philosophy. This symbolism is further emphasised through design elements inspired by the tranquillity and harmony of East Asian gardens, imbuing Sensai’s branding with a serene and balanced visual appeal.
Beyond dining, Sensai beckons with a cultural odyssey, fusing Asia’s rich cultural tapestry with Portuguese traditional flavours in a luxurious voyage resonant with sophistication and genuine charm.
