Onada pays tribute to the Mediterranean Sea and coastal vineyards influenced by its unique character. Made with minimal intervention, this wine is a testament to its own natural essence, as is the vibrant paint that adorns its label. It embodies the spirit of the Mediterranean, capturing the essence of vineyards bathed in sun and salty sea breezes.
Inspired by the spirit of Minimal Intervention, we embarked on a series of illustrations employing the Pouring painting technique. Reminiscent of the ebb and flow of the sea, this method uses fluid acrylics, allowing colors to cascade freely and form intricate patterns and images without the need for external tools. The resulting work of art reflects the maritime essence of the wine; undulating waves that ebb and flow towards the shore. When the bottle is turned, the label reveals a combination of traditional typography and contemporary style, achieved through meticulous font selection and composition, while maintaining a modern touch.
This project was created for the GastroDesign exhibition as part of the Gastrónoma Fair, held in November 2023 in the city of València, Spain. This exhibition showcased the fusion of culinary art and design innovation, highlighting the creativity of Valencia’s design community. Gráficas Alarcón, in collaboration with the Vicente Gandía winery and Manter-Fedrigoni, brought this vision to life by printing ten different labels, each a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of the region and the art of its creators.
