This project was made as a concept of a typography-centered brand identity for a museum of sounds. The main goal was not to use any extra shapes or colors and keep the idea simple and straightforward while still easy to understand. The identity ended up being based on a simple yet memorable image of a sound wave graph that is fully formed via text. It merges the ideas of knowledge and information as key resources of a museum with the uniqueness of each sound’s appearance. This allowed to create series of posters and merch with different sounds that resulted in various interesting shapes. The concept allows for limitless potential designs for posters or museum flyers and infographics, it can also be used as a visualiser of the specific sounds, sound effects or properties that are shown in different expositions or sections of the museum. A video explaining the concept was also created to support the fully visual presentation. The brand identity is shown on several posters, wall of the museum and various merch, such as t-shirts, bags, business cards and tickets.
This project was an important step in my creative studies and allowed me to explore new areas of design. Its creation was inspired by the art-direction course at HSE Art and Design School, where I had the privilege of receiving guidance and support from professionals in the field. Additionally, I would like to thank my tutor, Tanya Dunaeva, who helped me refine and polish the idea and its visual representation, providing support and mentorship on the project.
