Nhoba is a new oriental cuisine restaurant positioned in one of the city’s historic neighborhoods that is undergoing a period of redevelopment. We collaborated with communication agency Industria01 to design the branding.
The name Nhoba is the union in the words Noodles, Hot Pot and Barbeque, which are the three thematic rooms of the restaurant. The clients around the table will be able to cook their own food directly thanks to hobs placed in the center of the tables. The client asked us to come up with a brand that would be colorful and youthful, a distinctive logotype and one or more mascot to tie in with the restaurant’s image.
We designed the logotype starting with the font Eckmannpsych, because of its wavy style that is vaguely reminiscent of the sinuosity of cooked noodles. We modified some letters (H, O and A) to improve the readability of the logotype and give more personalization to the brand. As a secondary font, we chose Founders Grotesk, so as to give the project more modernity.
Studying the target audience, it was challenging for us to bring this branding to life by studying the smallest details, so that we could attract not only a purely young audience, but also a more mature one, covering a range from 18-60 years old.
The client also asked us to make a mascot that could be used as a decorative element and for making gadgets and menrchandising trying to represent the “Lucky Cat.” Therefore, we wanted to make a mascot of a Lucky Cat while eating noodles, keeping the irony that the client wanted to achieve.
