Student branding project – identity design for cider house and packaging for cider. The task was to develop a packaging design for a Nizhny Novgorod cider that would embody the character of the cidery and stand out among competitors. This is an exclusive product with a unique flavor, made from select varieties of fruits grown in the vicinity of the Piana River (It translates as a drunken river), from which the brand takes its name. The visual language of the packaging was inspired by the curves of the river. The silhouettes of fruits on the packaging emerge as if from the outline of the river, and the text is not centered to reflect the character of the meandering riverbanks. The advantages of the drink are presented in the form of motifs of topographic signs, used on maps for conventional symbols. In addition, the glass bottles feature labels resembling mustaches, on which is written a Russian proverb “And I was there, drank honey-beer, it flowed down the mustache, but didn’t get into the mouth.”
