Wave Digital Assets, is an SEC-registered investment advisory firm that provides a unique combination of venture capital, fund, and private wealth management to the digital asset ecosystem.
Wave approached me in search of a rebrand, the company had grown substantially and was ready to break out of their cocoon. They were trapped in their current identity, as it was behind the times and showed issues with scalability, recognizability, and utility.
I was beyond excited to tackle this project head on and create an identity that works in the present day, and has the ability to adapt to the future. Through many founder, employee, and customer interviews, I settled on what Wave Digital Assets represents, and their promise to their clients. Trustworthiness, professionalism, and a forward thinking mindset are what encapsulate Wave Digital Assets as a whole, and what they strive to provide to the public.
Once the strategy and mission were solidified, I then started to develop the identity. I explored many different routes and iterations of what could visually represent their values to their clients, and themselves. Through 5 rounds of refinement, alterations, and collaboration, we landed on the logo you see today! The logo is a W constructed on a 3 x 5 grid, resulting in a precise and visually appealing mark. Its wide base and bold structure emulates a strong feeling of reliability and trustworthiness, and the curved bar represents forward movement. For the brand typeface, we decided on Pangram Pangram’s “Telegraf” for its extended width, high legibility at small scales, and its harmony and balance with the mark.
Once the visual identity was complete, the design system began to develop. I utilized the modular pieces of the logomark to create an icon system for all of the individual funds Wave Digital Assets provides. I also used the mark as an image container, as well as developed a layout system for social media posts and other web and print applications.
All of these elements have come together to form the new Wave Digital Assets, and I couldn’t be more proud of the work we acheieved together.
