Small Batch Riesling of Experimental Wines from New Zealand

Small Batch Riesling of Experimental Wines from New Zealand

Makers & Allies – Dr. Schaeffer, by Mahana Estate

“Dr. Schaeffer is a special release from Mahana estates experimental tier of wines. Inspired by the unique characteristics and intrigue of the land, as well as the man behind the curtain. This Riesling represents the seasonal expression of the magical Moutere Hills found in Nelson, New Zealand. This project was quite the experience as it took the Makers team overseas to visit NZ and immerse ourselves in all that is Mahana Estates and of course meet the mysterious doctor himself.

Dr. Schaeffer is an extremely small batch riesling, made with organically grown grapes from the Mahana Estate Vineyards in Nelson, New Zealand. The label was designed by the Makers & Alllies design team while on site at Mahana Estate during an 2 week overseas design immersion that sought to bring a new face to to brand. Inspired by the unique characteristics and intrigue of the land, this Riesling represents the seasonal expression of the magical Moutere Hills found in Nelson, New Zealand. The label design is styled after the ultra-ornate traditional German Riesling labels, but with a New Zealand twist- hidden in the label are native New Zealand flora, fauna, and the face of the winery owner himself.”
