Millet wine or Shaoxing wine is a symbol of China. The art of millet wine making started from Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, China. It honored a long history dating back more than 2,000 years to the Spring and Autumn period (Pre-Qin period). And the brand Guyuelongshan is one of the most outstanding companies of millet wine making.
For packaging transformation, Guyuelongshan turned to us–Pica Strategic Packaging. We formed a new structure for Guyuelongshan’s wine bottle to arrange information, comments, and images orderly. If you look at it as a whole, you would find it is precise and seems like The Orchid Pavilion (the most famous article and calligraphy in China).
For box design, we take the texture of Wupeng boat (a local boat style with Shaoxing characteristics) as decorations of wine’s box. This texture with simple linear type looks like ripples showing the high-quality of Guyuelongshan’s water (the most important raw material for millet wine) and the characteristics of place of origin.
For young people in China, they know Guyuelongshan is a giant of millet wine. They know millet wine is one of the three ancient wines in the world. They even know that millet wine is a Chinese characteristic and a world intangible heritage. But when it comes to the wine, they can’t remember what it was supposed to look like. They can’t remember the last time they bought rice wine, They can’t even think of a bottle of millet wine they should buy for what.
Instead of putting the wine in a bottle of Whiskey to make it fashionable and international, Pica Packaging chose to endow it with the characteristics of the origin.
