Each and every year, Starbucks crafts unique and delicious coffees that highlight the best of each season. Last year, they asked the Chase Design group to create new designs for the upcoming Spring season. They needed beautiful and disruptive designs for two limited-edition flavors that were uniquely Starbucks, while speaking to the essence of Spring. The editions we worked on were the Starbucks Honey and Madagascar Vanilla and Starbucks Spring Day Blend. Each design had to stand on their own while expressing it’s unique and ownable personality.
Striking a balance between delicious flavor and seasonal beauty, we worked to capture the essence of Spring with these two hand-illustrated, bespoke designs. With a nod to the nuanced flavor profiles of each blend, the designs were hand-crafted to welcome the new season.
For Starbucks Honey and Madagascar Vanilla we needed to express the flavor of subtly sweet honey meeting rich Madagascar vanilla in this deliciously cheerful coffee. We carfully illustrated vanilla flowers and beans and with bee hive and honeycomb pattern. Yellow packaging helps express the look and feel of this sunny and flavorful product.
For Starbucks Spring Day Blend we created a design that to be a harmonious bloom of flavor notes, this medium-roast coffee is a unique blend of beans harvested from Africa and Latin America, with notes of rich cocoa and lush dried fruits. We illustrated butterflies, and coffee leaves and cherries before they ripen into beans.
