Visual research ‘Land art as a search for natural harmony’ is devoted to the study of the principles of land art and their transformation. The works of art are divided into categories according to the degree of compliance with the original philosophy of the direction. The main goal of the book is to show that land art after being a way of artistic protest in the past is currently becoming relevant in the field of contemporary art as a tool for restoring the relationship between man and nature.
Modern world tends towards manufacturability, displacing the need for a close connection between man and nature. The process of formation of the so-called “post-natural” reality is only gaining momentum every day, posing an important problem of survival as an earthly being before the population of the planet. Land art is becoming an artistic space for the aesthetic dialogue between man and nature, a direction in which the work being created is inextricably linked with the natural landscape.
The book has its certain structure. Along the perimeter of the book spreads there are signs of the cardinal directions which help to navigate in space. On each spread, which is associated with a work of land art, there is a colored dot that is placed in the margins. Dots help to indicate the approximate location of the project relative to the prime meridian. The prime meridian in the book conditionally lies in the spine of the book (in the center of each spread).
Page numbering is placed in the upper left corner of the spread, similar to serial number of topographic maps. The other reference to topographic maps is a set of small icons indicating the position of body text, quotes and images.
