“Untitled” is the first of a series of wines soon to be released by Vouni Panayia Winery as part of their penultimate Microvinifications project, IV. A collaboration between artist Lefki Savvidou and designer Marios Karystios. Lefki Savvidou aka Lé Boob, (b.1990, Cyprus) is a Cypriot visual artist, illustrator, writer, and tattoo artist. She uses text as her main medium for her diverse work, which focuses on human relationships and life’s perceptions in the 21st century. In this collaboration Vouni Panayia welcomes for the fourth year at their Microvinifications project, artists to depict their stories and philosophy. Vouni Panayia winery, is a strictly family business set by two brothers and a cousin, which transmitted their passion to the new generation. After gaining the necessary knowledge in viticulture and oenology from the University of Florence in Italy, the new breed nowadays plays an active part in running the winery. Generation after generation, the family vineyards at Vouni Panayia are cultivated with passion, great care and respect to the exceptional viticultural character of the area. The people at Vouni Panayia blend tradition with innovation, experience with knowledge and create quality wines, from selected grapes of indigenous varieties cultivated in the winery’s vineyards, that carry all distinct characteristics of the region. The project has been an empty canvas for experimentation where a lot of artists have depicted in their unique style, stories, ideas and things related to Vouni Panayia Winery and Cyprus island. This radical wine by Vouni Panayia sends a message that most of us feel since the pandemic has started. The design is straightforward by using only bold type in Lefki’s signature style. The words are screen printed on the bottles. The wine is local Cypriot variety Xynisteri of 2020 that has stayed for some time on its lees. The wine is produced in a limited number of 650 bottles.
