Makers + Holm employs the humanistic practice of treating your home like a sanctuary, created first and foremost for the person – where needs of mind, body and soul precede, function and visual elements follow.
Through careful discovery with our client and a thorough exploration of their peers in holistic interior design we arrived at an informed strategy for our design process:
Simplicity and understated elegance were central to the design brief. Our primary goal was to create a beautiful mark that would distinctively represent the company owner’s refined aesthetic. We also believed that it was imperative that we offer a modern mark for this new brand—but one that had enough classic notes to enable it to carry the brand through current and future trends in design. In particular, ties to biophilic design were referenced in the dark leaf-y green and natural off-white palette and the typography was chosen for its timeless and unpretentious tone. Finally, the MH monogram was used to create a soothing mark that evokes shelter and natural beauty.
From Makers + Holm founder, Rhonda Casey: “The holistic home is inclusive of eco-friendly materials, sustainably-sourced home goods, elemental features and found objects of nature. Locally made furniture is mixed with timeless treasures of the past. Textiles are made from natural fiber or are upcycled/reusable. Color palettes support a nurturing environment; natural light and air quality are essential. Personal and common spaces are uncluttered for optimal functionality.”
