The new brand underpins Nordi’s ambition to bring cutting-edge aquaculture technology to northern Norwegian waters as they seek to create a sustainable global market for fresh Nordic sea greens.
KIND recently completed the full rebrand for Nordi, as the innovative producer of seaweed and kelp products seeks to expand its international appeal. The new identity and a full suite of communication collateral now provides a platform for the company to drive forward with a new era of organic algae farming focused on nutrient-rich Nordic species.
Based out of Aalesund, and with concessions for offshore and onshore cultivation, Nordi is aiming to take super nutritious Norwegian sea greens out to a truly global market. With over 400 acres of offshore farms already strategically located in the region, Nordi has identified a unique opportunity to revolutionise algae farming (seaweed and kelp) along the northwest coast. By working with scientists on dedicated sea trials and consumer research across the globe, Nordi has secured the know-how to cultivate the different species required to create a range of products designed to appeal to all tastes and traditions in international markets.
Every bite green. Every bite clean.
The fresh new branding brings to life the Nordi promise that ‘green nutrition makes for great nutrition’. It has been designed to provide a distinctive, green and sustainable brand that will help to promote the Norwegian seaweed farming industry to local markets as well as to those key markets in Asia and the rest of the world.
The concept of reaching up and stretching towards the light was important to carry further in the photography for Nordi. We have mainly used one type of lighting. Light beams coming from above illuminating the subject below mimic the underwater light conditions.
Styling puts the main focus on elements characteristic of the underwater environment and recreates floating weightless underwater feeling. The color grading of all the imagery is kept in line with brands different tones of green reflecting harmony and well-being.
The brand’s environmental mindset was an important factor to carry further in the packaging design. We wanted timelessness and sustainability to be central to the solution. We combined clean and minimalistic design with environmentally friendly materials without compromising on quality. The boxes are made of tin and are formed in line with Nordi logo. That creates a smart modular system that allows the packages to be stacked on top of each other or placed next to each other.
Nordi logo embossed directly on the boxes combined with a paper label that matches the color of the box balances the expression toward modern and minimalistic. Like the box, the tray is also built upon a modular system. Six units that contain six small portions of seaweed salad can be separated and used as a small bowl which helps to avoid the food waste. The tray is made from pulp which is 100% Biodegradable and Compostable. The shape of the sleeve harmonises with angles with the logo and creates the perfect surface to convey information about the brand and the product.
