I am a designer and illustrator and the 2020 Pandemic Lockdown provided me with a lot of free time at home. And as a creative person, it left me searching for something to do around the house (and garden) that I could apply my artistic craft towards. The search eventually led me to my rather impressive chili garden that includes many chili’s I have collected from all parts of the world.

The 3 month isolation gave me plenty of time to fine tune and perfect to what I consider the best hot sauce I have ever tasted. I finally settled on 3 of my favourite fiery creations (there were 9 in total) that focused on 3 different parts of the world in which I developed a hot sauce that best captured that area and the chili’s grown in that vacinity.

The current range includes Lords Shetani Hot Sauce which is a devilish sauce made from Red Fatalii chili peppers from South Africa. Second is Lords Bengals Hot Sauce which is a fiercely hot sauce made from yellow Kashmiri chili peppers from East India. And finally, Lords Tatanka Hot Sauce, which is a spicy and slightly smoky sauce made from Green Sport chili peppers from the northern parts of the North America.

The illustration I used for each of these sauces, tries to capture the animal spirt of each of these regions. Shetani is an African Swahili word for Devil. Bengal refers to a region most commonly known for tigers and Tatanka is the American Indian word for buffalo.

The success of these sauces are yet to be seen. But regardless of the outcome, the enjoyment from creating these sauces and the designing of the labels have provided me with more than enough satisfaction.
