Mariam Khalifah built a branding system for Alaz Film. Alaz Film is a film production company found by Atilla Salih Yücer and Kamen Velkovsky and based in Istanbul, New York and Porto to create and produce arthouse and indie movies. The goals were to investigate the brand aesthetics, arthouse references and positioning and reflect the passion of the owners into the brand identity.

With the word “Alaz” as a starting point (means Fire in Turkish), I created a logo that is bold, confident, and strong with hand-drawn quality to embody the passion and careful craft that goes behind film production at Alaz. I also developed other logo variations that are also dynamic and can transform itself. The layout and compositions are versatile.

The supporting brand elements and compositions serve as the backbone of the brand’s visual identity and can be used in print and social media to be able to create an infinite array of visual material and high-quality film content. The end results were a bold identity and a strong visual representation of the company.
