Made in Printer — exhibition about fashion that is produced by using 3D printing. This technology relates to sustainable development, helping to design clothes from recycled plastic.
The main task was to create a typography identity for the exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is a sustainable problem that includes recycled plastic, which can be a useful material for 3D printing clothes. The purpose is to obtain more information and know how to help the environment. Nowadays more and more people concern about plastic pollution. They start to search for different solutions. Fashion designers and clothing producers discover obvious benefits from this technology. A unique geometric shapes and forms never made before start to be a mass product and not haute couture fashion. Prototyping different pieces of clothes encourage designers to have more freedom and instruments. It is a tool that allows to think in 3-dimension. The benefit is a process of customization. People can collect plastic and get a new shirt for their wardrobe.
The custom font is inspired by 3D printing technology, it combines industrial side (digital) and plastic (textile). As a result, the font makes an impression of something technological and flexible as a textile at the same time. The font has two styles% bold and regular. The bold one is used for name of the exhibition and titles. The regular one is usually used for additional text. The concept of identity came up from naming. It reminds the famous phrase Made in china. It works fantastic on merch. For example, you can write water bottle made in printer or t-shirt made in printer and etc. There is also recognizable icons from clothing labels with recommendations for usage. Icons were modified due to theme of the exhibition. The words on posters describes the clothes composition: 100% plastic, ABS plastic, PLA, Polycarbonate. We can observe font on different types of communication: posters, merch, billboards, exterior and interior of exhibition.
