Parish Group Brand Identity

We were approached by a financial services business in Guernsey to develop a new brand identity. This was an unusual brief for us as we specialise in providing design services for the beauty industry – evidently the client had seen some examples of our work on instagram and were impressed with our style and could see how we could add value from an alternative approach to that which was available on the Channel Islands. The company name was Parish Group and the brief was to capture an element from the immediate district of St Martin. We immediately set to work researching the parish for iconography, images and influence to develop into a brand logo. The flag of St Martin provided a direction which we felt was the best representation of this picturesque district; by updating and combining with other elements this could provide the basis of the new identity. The eight-armed cross of fleurs de lys was simplified and refined and encapsulated in a shield icon. The traditional yellow and navy blue were demoted in favour of a single vibrant blue spot colour, Pantone Blue 072. We paired with the text, set in Optima – a semi-serif style which gives a nod to the historical district and the authority of financial services on the island. The brand logo movie demonstrates the simple flexibility of the marque for successful implementation in different formats across print and. The identity also bends to accommodate subsidiaries in a consistent and complementary way. We also provided simple identity guidelines to empower the client to rollout across website, official documents and marketing material.
